BIM library for a pipework manufacturer

A pipework range modelled as parametric BIM objects, with the assemblies already preconfigured.

What was done

In pipework, what makes a BIM catalogue useful is not the individual part but the assembly: parts that fit together with their real diameters and joints.

A3D modelled one of the manufacturer’s ranges with parameterised objects and preconfigured assemblies, ready to be inserted and connected in the model.

The catalogue allowed the designer to work with the manufacturer’s real product from the first layout: the reference is specified in the model while the decision is still being made.

  • Preconfigured assembly: the parts arrive already connected to each other.
  • Another configuration from the same catalogue.

Does your plant look like this one?

Each project started with a measured area: a bounded scan, a model of the real condition and a decision based on data. If you have an intervention ahead, it is bounded, measured and validated.
