What was done
The plant documentation no longer described the plant. No engineering firm could bid for replacing the silos on the basis of an unknown state, and every maintenance query meant walking the whole facility.
A3D scanned in phases, area by area, without stopping production. The point cloud was useful from day one — it was already a measurable document — and on it the as-built BIM model of structures, silos and equipment was built afterwards.
With the model on the table, the plant put the replacement of the silos out to tender and carried it out. Today the engineering team that manages it prepares each new intervention directly on that model.

The plant could put its own works out to tender again
The areas the plant needed were documented in phases, with production running, and today every intervention is prepared on the model.
What was happening
An animal feed plant in Castellbisbal needed to replace its silos with documentation that no longer described the plant: no engineering firm could bid for the intervention and every maintenance query meant walking the whole plant.
What we did
A3D started by validating the area of that intervention. With that first model the plant was able to request a bid, and that same year the company commissioned the phased digitisation of the areas it needed: scanning area by area, with production running, and an as-built BIM model of structures, silos and equipment.
What changed
The engineering team that manages the plant now prepares each intervention on that model, without re-surveying the area.
Does your plant look like this one?
Each project started with a measured area: a bounded scan, a model of the real condition and a decision based on data. If you have an intervention ahead, it is bounded, measured and validated.
